Hello World — Starting to Write Again
👋 Hello World
After a long break, I’m finally back to blogging.
If you ask, “Why the long silence?”, my answer is simple: life.
The past few years have been incredibly busy — both personally and professionally.
New projects, international collaborations, family life, and the process of settling into a new country… all of these kept me fully occupied. Even when I wanted to write, time always seemed one step ahead.
But now it feels like the right moment to slow down a bit and refocus.
I’ve set a few new goals for myself, and one of them is to write at least one blog post every week.
Sometimes these posts will dive into technical topics — things like PostGIS, H3, DuckDB, MapLibre, or Cloudflare, which I use daily — and sometimes they’ll simply reflect thoughts, ideas, or personal experiences. Because in a way, if you don’t share what you build or learn, it feels incomplete.
🌍 A Quick Look Back
Over the past several years, I’ve mainly focused on climate data, drought early warning systems, and geospatial technologies.
- Developed GeoSpatial Dashboards and Data Pipelines for UNICEF Somalia
- Built the Drought Early Warning Dashboard for UNDP Madagascar
- Contributed to the National Drought Monitoring and Early Warning System (KTEUS) in Turkey
- Currently working on the Global Drought Map, a platform that brings together climate and satellite datasets to visualize drought conditions worldwide
These experiences have taught me not only a lot technically, but also the power of data and technology in tackling the climate crisis.
And perhaps that’s the real reason I wanted to start writing again — to share what I’ve learned, experienced, and discovered along the way.
✨ In Short
This blog will be a story of starting again — sometimes technical, sometimes personal, but always authentic.
If you’d like to join me on this journey, see you in the weekly posts. 🌿
